5 New Classic Rock Bands That Came Out In 1970

The 1970s’ is one of the favorite decades of classic rock fans. It introduced and featured some of the finest progressive, blues, and hard rock bands to emerged during the decade. 

Below are the ones who pioneered the new sound of the 1970s, they emerged at the right time as the New Classic Rock Bands That Came Out In 1970:

1. Black Sabbath

They were considered as the Godfathers of Heavy Metal. The Black Sabbath were formed in Birmingham in 1968, by Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler, and singer Ozzy Osbourne. Despite starting their musical journey in 1968, Black Sabbath were first introduced to the world when they release their debut album, Attention! – Black Sabbath Volume One, in February 1970 in the UK and June 1970 in the United States.

 

2. Emerson, Lake, and Palmer

ELP, the prog-rock supergroup emerged in London in 1970 consisting of founding members, Keith Emerson; singer, bassist, guitarist, and producer Greg Lake; and drummer and percussionist Carl Palmer. The power trio managed to release 9 studio albums, 24 live albums, 12 compilation albums, and 17 singles during their interesting career. The band’s self-titled debut album was released in November 1970 in the UK under Island Records.

 

3. Main Ingredient

The Main Ingredient was best-known for the hit single “Everybody Plays the Fool” released in 1972. The band was one of the most respectable American soul and R&B group emerging in 1970. The band’s debut album titled, Spinning Around was released in 1970. The R&B group reached the top 30 for the first time in 1970 with their single, “You’ve Been My Inspiration.”

 

4. White Plains

The British pop-rock groups who were once considered as the band who was following in the Beatles’ footsteps, but just like the Beatles, their career was short spanning from 1969 to 1976, and many line-up changes occurred. However, the group managed to release five UK hit singles, all on the Deram Records label in 1970. The band’s self-titled album was released in 1970. 

 

5. Partridge Family

The Partridge Family were one of the most significant groups in 1970, they not really a band, but a musical TV Show that was first aired in September 1970 with 4 seasons ending in November 1999. It’s about a widowed mother and her five kids forming a band and led them to make a hit record called The Partridge Family Album which was actually released in 1970 as their studio album.
