The music legend’s unfinished memoir will finally be published
Prince was hand-writing his memoir called The Beautiful One and was in the process of completing it before his death at the age of 57 in April 2016. The singer only managed to submit 50 pages to his publisher and was not able to finish writing his memoir.
Now, two years later, it has been announced that the anticipated memoir will be published later this year. Though Prince was not able to finish writing his memoir himself, work on the book still continued after his death as he had been working with co-author Dan Piepenbring while he was still alive. According to Prince’s publishing agent Esther Newberg, Piepenbring and a few editors were frequent visitors of the singer at his Paisley Park compound in Minneapolis. Newberg shares with Variety,
“It’s never been done before. Editors don’t like to be in the same room making their pitches to the same potential clients. We had to do it because I knew he would not want to meet individually with editors.”
More material has also been uncovered from Prince’s vault and the editors were able to use those to complete the Purple Rain singer’s unfinished project.
The memoir is expected to drop sometime around the holiday season at the end of 2018.
