The Thin White Duke’s work between 1983 – 1988 will be combined together in a box set that contains 11 CDs and 15 LPs that features eight albums from Bowie’s most successful era. It will include b sides, alternate versions, and previously unreleased music. The set is named after the opening track from his Tonight album that was released in 1984.
Produced by Parlophone Records, Loving the Alien is the fourth entry in its series of David Bowie career record releases. This new box set follows Five Years (1969-1973), Who Can I Be Now? (1974-1976) and A New Career In A New Town (1977-1982).
The box set will include the remastered versions of Let’s Dance, Tonight, Never Let Me Down, Glass Spider (Live Montreal ’87) and Serious Moonlight (Live ’83) which was never released before. The remastered record features new instrumentation from David Bowie’s past collaborators, namely guitarists Reeves Gabrels and David Torn, Sterling Campbell on drums, and Tim Lefebvre on bass. Laurie Anderson also makes a cameo on the track “Shining Star (Makin’ My Love)”.
