Denmark’s Got Talent, April 2017

With just three years of steady playing under her belt, Denmark’s 10-year-old drum sensation Johanne Astrid is already well on her way to a hard hitting rock and roll legacy of her own and thanks to her big win on Denmark’s Got Talent, rockstardom might not be too much further away.

We came across this talented young lady late last week after footage surfaced of Johanne jamming Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” during the Denmark’s Got Talent semifinals, swinging for the fences with a hard hitting performance that left us marveling at the fact that someone so small could put that amount of force into her drumming and wondering once or twice if she might not be a distant relative of John Bonham.

Fun Fact: “Whole Lotta Love” ranked at no. 1 on Rolling Stone magazine’s “100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time.”

Don’t be fooled by that angelic little face; looking incredibly at home from behind her enormous drum kit, Johanne Astrid packs a serious punch and we can’t wait to see what a few more years of steady playing will bring this talented young lady.

Now we all know that one of the highlights of this classic hit is the massive drum sound. And that alone took the whole song to another level.

“For the song to work as this panoramic audio experience, I needed Bonzo to really stand out, so that every stick stroke sounded clear and you could really feel them. If the drums were recorded just right, we could lay in everything else.” – Jimmy Page

Bonzo must be smiling down from heaven seeing how this little girl is helping keep rock ‘n roll alive. Her talent is definitely no joke, she’s got some serious chops to pull off this cover. Keep on rockin’ kid!
