Elton John will host a TV special to raise funds and awareness for the fight against COVID-19.
The iHeart Living Room Concert for America is set to air on March 29 at 9PM on Fox television and iHeart Radio stations across the country. The slot is supposed to air for the iHeart Music Awards, but were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
In addition to John’s appearance, the TV special will feature performances by various artists, including Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, R&B singer Alicia Keys, alt-pop phenomenon Billie Eilish, pop star Mariah Carey, country singer Tim McGraw, ’00s boy band the Backstreet Boys
Each artist will broadcast their performances from their respective homes, as a part of the ongoing effort to implement and encourage people to do social distancing.
The event will also see to pay tribute to health workers and first responders who are on the front lines against the coronavirus. Viewers will be asked to donate to Feeding America and First Responders Children’s Foundation — both organizations are helping victims and first responders during the crisis.
