Eagles Fans Get The Present Of A Lifetime
For the first time in the 21 years since its original recording, the Eagles performed ‘Please Come Home For Christmas’ live as part of their 1999 Millennium Tour – a three night concert event that took place in both Las Vegas and Los Angeles, with the band ringing in the year 2000 with fans at the Los Angeles Staples Center. Fans waited two decades to hear Don Henley croon the words “Bells will be ringing…” live, and in true Eagles fashion, our boys did not disappoint.
Fun Fact: Recorded in 1978, ‘Please Come Home For Christmas’ became the first Christmas song to reach the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 – not too shabby, considering it hadn’t been done since Roy Orbison’s ‘Pretty Paper’ in 1963.
Christmas just isn’t Christmas without the Eagles – and it certainly isn’t Christmas without their version of ‘Please Come Home For Christmas’! While it’s not the most joyful of songs, there’s something about it that still manages to give you the warm and fuzzies. Maybe it’s the fact that when you hear it you know Christmas isn’t too far away, and with it the knowledge that Christmas miracles do happen – I mean, ask any Eagles fan lucky enough to see the band perform this classic live!
