During Guns N’ Roses show as part of the Super Bowl Music Fest, they’ve dedicated “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” to Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, Bryant’s daughter Gianna, and seven other people — who were aboard during the helicopter crash in Calabasas, Calif., last Jan. 26.
As Axl Rose says that he saw the smoke from the accident when he came home after their rehearsal and describes it as “a fog bank, like a thundercloud over the trees,” that was white, it was something he called “formidable,” while other people who were returning to his house said it was “ominous.” “Apparently,” Axl said, “it was much worse.”
“We wanna dedicate this to Kobe, his daughter, everyone on the flight, their families and everyone affected by this terrible event,” he concluded before singing the song.
Guns N’ Roses concert also featured Snoop Dogg during an opening set.
