This Is Pretty Surprising
Gilby Clarke recently revealed that he turned down the offer from Guns ‘n Roses to join their “Not In This Lifetime” Tour. He was part of the band’s lineup from 1991 to 1994 as their rhythm guitarist following Izzy Stradlin’s departure. He was also featured in their fifth studio album “The Spaghetti Incident?”
In an interview with Eddie Trunk on his SiriusXM Trunk Nation show, Clarke was asked if the group contacted him prior to their reunion tour and he said:
“Oh yeah, no – they did, yeah, they did, when it first started, they did reach out to me to come and play. I have said that they did ask me before, I’ve never said why I didn’t do it. The real reason is, they asked me, but you know my daughter Frankie has a band [Frankie + The Studs], they asked me the same day my daughter’s band was playing Lollapalooza [in July 2016], which was like the biggest break for her band and stuff. It was the same day they were playing Lollapalooza and I had to be there, and I couldn’t really give that up to go be the third guitar player in the band.”

The “Not In This Lifetime” Tour turned out to be a massive success. According to Billboard, it has become the fourth-highest grossing tour of all time and their earnings have amounted to over $500 million.

Guns ‘n Roses is currently performing around Asia before they head off to Abu Dhabi. Their tour will end on December 8 this year at the Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. Listen to the clip below for the interview:
