Every Legend Has Their Own Signature Instruments
Gretsch guitar just recently honored the late AC/DC legend Malcolm Young with their new signature guitar that will be released this coming November.
The said guitar company will be paying their homage to Young’s famous battle-hardened Gretsch Jet Guitar called, “The Beast.” Malcolm Young designed the instrument on his own by removing two of the three pickups, which had helped him to pound his way to top and give us some of the hardest and most memorable rhythms the world has ever witnessed.
“I mean, as soon as you hear that first… chord, you know it’s him,” shared by his brother Angus, “To do this… you have to be a master of rhythm, and that’s exactly what Mal [was].”
The Young brothers feature the essential trademarks of one of rock’s music most iconic guitars including, of course, their “DIY” pickup routes with simulated screw holes, and has its own chrome switch plugs, and Space-Control bridge.
Youngs’ instruments have a design with a double-cutaway chambered and colored with mahogany in its body with a maple top, aged-white binding. Its fingerboard has a bound ebony with 22 jumbo frets and Neo-Classic thumbnails.

At the age of 64, Malcolm Young passed away on November 18, 2017, and battled dementia for a very long time; 2014 was the year when Malcolm left the group to enter a full-time healthcare facility in Sydney, Australia that specialized dementia.
Of course, with Angus Young still kicking it alive, AC/DC’s future remains unknown.
