Metallica made Billboard chart historic feat.
The thrash legends are the first band to receive number-one singles on the publication’s Mainstream Rock Songs record chart in four distinct decades.
Metallica reached the feat when their S&M2 recording of “All Within My Hands” won the top spot on Mainstream Rock Songs this week. They’d earlier led the ranking in the ’90s, ’00s, and ’10s. And now, achieving the number one spot again in 20’s.
Resulting in Metallica 10 number-one singles on the Mainstream Rock Songs chart, which started in 1981. That matches them for fifth-most in the history of the 39-year-old record, alongside Disturbed and Tom Petty.
S&M2 highlights Metallica’s two shows last September joined by the San Francisco Symphony which was released last Friday.
