Guns N’ Roses 1987 hit, Sweet Child O’ Mine, will get its own children book of the same name.
The children book will is set to be released on September 1 and dubbed as “song-turned-story of discovery and adventure” the book project saw the group teaming up with author James Patterson and illustrator Jennifer Zivoin for a picture children book based on the lyrics of GnR’s on No.1 US single.
According to Peope (https://people.com/parents/guns-n-roses-childrens-book-sweet-child-o-mine-exclusive/), the book project ” “was inspired by the adventures of Maya and Natalia Rose, two young girls who have grown up touring with the band.”
The two young girls are cousins in real life, one is the daughter of GnR’s manager Fernando Lebeis and one is his sister’s daughter.
“My sister and I have been lucky to be able to watch our daughters — Maya and Natalia Rose — grow up while touring with the guys (the band),” says Lebeis. “We ourselves have been part of the ‘Guns family’ for over 30 years … being able to bring this into a children’s print book is truly special and a fun milestone in our lives.”
“As a longtime fan of Guns N’ Roses, I’m thrilled to partner with the band in bringing their famed hit song to life on the page,” adds Patterson. “Sweet Child O’Mine is a story that I know kids will love reading and that parents will love singing along to.”
Sweet Child O’ Mine was a single from the band’s debut album, “Appetite For Destruction,” which was released in 1987; as well as becoming the first music video from the 80s’ to reach a feat of one billion views on YouTube last year.
Guns N’ Roses are planning to resume their 2020 tour in Lisbon, Portugal on May 20.
