November Rain Just Set A New Youtube Record

Guns N’ Roses have a great milestone to celebrate as their music video for ‘November Rain’ becomes the first ever music video by a rock band to reach one billion views (and counting) in YouTube. It is also the oldest music video ever to achieve the billion-views mark seeing as the video came out 26 years ago in 1992. That’s 14 years before YouTube even came into existence! The nine-minute music video reached its milestone thanks in part to Guns N’ Roses’ South American tour in 2017.

Astonishingly, YouTube reports that 83% of the “November Rain” views in 2018 came from outside the United States. It garnered 69 million views from Brazil alone and 66 million from Mexico.

There are currently 46 music videos that have broken the one billion views mark but only “November Rain” was released way before the past decade. Another one of GnR’s music videos “Sweet Child O’ Mine” is nearing the billion-views mark, currently sitting at 700 million.
