Take A Bow?
No. Pink Floyd legend, Roger Waters, has written an open letter to those performing at the 2019 Super Bowl. This year’s performers are Maroon 5, Travis Scott, and Big Boi from Outkast. The legendary bassist/ songwriter has always had a passion for being politically involved in issues close to his heart– Pink Floyd’s music reflects that.
There are lots of controversies connected to the Super Bowl this year. The NFL has been under a spot light for quite some time. Waters has decided to use this historical moment to voice some of his most recent civil rights related commitments.

Many celebrities are using their status to urge headlining band, Maroon 5, to drop out of the Super Bowl performances- in solidarity with those who have felt discrimination in connection to the NFL. In an alleged move of recognition to the public scrutiny, Maroon 5’s label and the NFL have each made a $500,000 donation to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
But that’s not what Roger Waters was hoping for. This is his open letter:
“My colleagues Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Big Boi are performing during the halftime show at the Super Bowl this coming Sunday. I call upon them to ‘take a knee’ onstage in full sight. I call upon them to do it in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, to do it for every child shot to death on these mean streets, to do it for every bereaved mother and father and brother and sister.”
Waters has also started an online petition on change.org, specifically asking the public to sign for Maroon 5 to fulfill the requests in his open letter. So far, there are 112,000 signatures.
