No Aerosmith Classics At Rallies
After sending a “cease and desist” letter to the White House telling Donald Trump to stop playing Aerosmith songs during his rallies, Steven Tyler took to Twitter to speak up about the legal action he has undertaken. He made it clear that it wasn’t political (Tyler himself is a republican) – the reason behind his move was because of his stance against music theft.
To put it simply, he didn’t want anyone using his music without permission.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT DEMS VS. REPUB. I DO NOT LET ANYONE USE MY SONGS WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. MY MUSIC IS FOR CAUSES NOT FOR POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS OR RALLIES. PROTECTING COPYRIGHT AND SONGWRITERS IS WHAT I’VE BEEN FIGHTING FOR EVEN BEFORE THIS CURRENT ADMINISTRATION TOOK OFFICE.

He even added that this is one of the main reasons he’s been a strong advocate for the Music Modernization Act. He ended his tweet by saying: “NO IS A COMPLETE SENTENCE.”
THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY @JOEPERRY AND I HAVE BEEN PUSHING THE SENATE TO PASS THE MUSIC MODERNIZATION ACT.
NO IS A COMPLETE SENTENCE.

Steven Tyler’s team has already clarified that “Trump needs our client’s express written permission in order to use his music.” This isn’t the first time musicians have prohibited Trump from using their songs.
