A Sub-Culture Of Its Own
Surf Rock originated in Southern California during the early ’60s. Surfing was considered a sport and the young people of Southern California followed the trend the led to becoming a sub-culture of its own.
Dick Dale, a surfer, was the one who originated the sound in 1961 with his instrumental song, “Let’s Go Trippin.”
