Before forming Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, he was part of a group called Epics which later became Mudcrutch. Because of lack of mainstream success, they eventually split up and Petty pursued a solo career. It wasn’t long before he got together with the rest of the Heartbreakers.

It hasn’t been a year since we lost this legendary musician and yet we can already feel the gaping hole he left behind. He was a prolific songwriter and has one of rock’s most distinctive voices. And throughout his entire four-decade career, he has sold over 80 million records worldwide. That’s an accomplishment most can only dream of.
