The Most Nostalgic and Outrageous Rock Fashion Of The 80s

via @Bring Michael Anthony back to Van Halen | Facebook

When it comes to fashion, the 1980s was undoubtedly one of the most notorious. After all, in what other decade could skinny pants be worn one day and baggy the next? You could also wear leg warmers, a jumper, and a miniskirt all at the same time (and in electric neon colors). Vibrant colors mixed in unusual ways were totally allowed. We will show you below some of the most notorious fashion trends of the 80s, what clothes and looks were used.

The large and very pronounced shoulder pads are one of the main fashion trends of the 80s. Perhaps it had something to do with the liberation of women and the affirmation of the power that women were beginning to have in the workplace. Another of the main quirks of eighties fashion, which did not make much sense, was that of leg warmers. Maybe we all had really cold legs because of the mini skirts we were wearing or maybe we just thought it looked cute. Whatever our reasoning was at the time, it was one of the biggest trends in this decade.

Huge earrings from various costume jewelry collections were all the rage. If the earrings didn’t touch the shoulder, they weren’t big enough.

Fingerless gloves were another of the strange trends of these times. From romantics to punk rock fans, fingerless gloves were popular with a wide variety of genres. The trend started with regular cargo pants but ended with pants baggier than a sack of potatoes. Parachute pants may very well be a piece of clothing that epitomizes the ridiculousness of the ’80s. But, at the time, they felt very cool. They were worn by both boys and girls.

“Members only” jackets were all the rage, and knockoffs were completely unacceptable. The sleeves were rolled up to just below the elbow, a look typical of that decade. Clothes that could be used in different ways were also put up for sale. They were sold in single sizes, and with 3 or 4 of these garments, you could enjoy dresses, skirts, pants or sweaters. In these images you will be able to understand this concept, which was very well received among young people.
