Sounds Crazy, But There’s A Reason For It

Say what you want about Sharon Osbourne, but never let it be said that she doesn’t love Ozzy.

Sharon, 65, has quite literally made it her personal and professional business to make sure that Ozzy, 69, is healthy and happy – even if it means going behind his back sometimes.

An interview with Ozzy for The Guardian revealed the lengths Sharon has gone to to protect him throughout the years, including a period where she went so far as to sell his newly bought Ferraris faster than he could buy them.

The reason? Sharon was terrified that Ozzy would crash the expensive Italian sports cars while drunk and kill himself, someone else, or both.

Ozzy lovingly looked back on Sharon’s actions, grateful for her foresight:

“I am so pleased I gave up drinking,” he told The Guardian. “At one point, I never ever imagined going a day. I was a raging alcoholic. When I used to drink booze, I’d buy a Ferrari or whatever, and Sharon would always be getting rid of them so I didn’t do anything stupid when I was drunk.”

I’d imagine that in the moment, Ozzy wasn’t exactly thrilled to see his high ticket purchases disappear before he got a chance to enjoy them. But looking at the situation after three decades through sober eyes and a fresh mind, it’s easy for Ozzy to see the genuine love in Sharon’s actions.

Currently on his final solo tour, Ozzy isn’t driving much these days. He was involved in a minor accident last month – “a little bumper kiss on the freeway” according to son Jack – and while no one was hurt, the experience was enough to make Ozzy put away his car keys.

“He was, like, ‘You know, I don’t want to drive anymore,’ Jack tells the Daily Mirror. “He was already driving less and less. I think he is of that mindset he’d rather not have the responsibility.

Think about it — Ozzy bumps someone, and it is, like, next thing you know, ‘We are going to sue for a billion,’ because people are silly,” he said. “His thing was more, like, ‘I don’t want to be liable. That’s it.'”

Something tells us that his decision took a serious load off of Sharon’s mind!
