Some of the biggest names in the music industry made their success because of this genre while others have become people’s personal heroes, the likes of Metallica, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and many more. Metal bands are often celebrated as a huge influence on what came later.

Jameson Raid
Managed by original Judas Priest drummer John Hinch a British heavy metal band, and was usually considered as a part NWOBHM. Formed in 1975 in Birmingham, England, their EP was released in 1979 called Seven Days of Splendour via GBH Records.
Slayer (Texas)
Well, this ain’t the Slayer some of you love who helped defined thrash metal. This band is from San Antonio, Texas and were able to make their own impact in the world of metal during their time. Their first EP called Prepare To Die was released in 1983 showcased of how much of a power metal band they were. The band split up in 1985 due to the threat of legal action by the Thrash Metal “Slayer.”
Warlord
A metal band from California was able to release two impressive albums during their six-year period from 1980. One is “Deliver Us” in 1983 and a year later they released “And The Cannons Of Destruction Have Begun,” and it is been said that it is one of the most creative metal albums of the time.

Formed in 1982 in Houston. This power metal band hit it hard with their debut album called Burning Star released in 1984 and two years later they released Remnants Of War album.
Grinder
A German thrash band should have made it also like the classic rock band Scorpion, but they were overlooked. Their first two albums, 1988’s Dawn For The Living and 89’s Dead End, are so metal and deserved more!
Hobbs’ Angel Of Death
Aussies’ described them as “virgin metal” because their sound felt very pure. Their self-titled, debut album was released in 1988 by SPV/Steamhammer and had a short major impact, it was listed as one of the best thrash albums of that year.
Mekong Delta
Another German thrasher band, formed in 1985, and since then have followed their own passion for progressive heavy metal. Their best early albums were Mekong Delta (1986), The Music Of Erich Zann (1988) and The Principle Of Doubt (1989), they are still on the road bringing metal to the world.
Savage
You might have heard of them, or maybe not because one of their songs was covered by Metallica called “Let It Loose,” meaning Savage’s most renowned song. Their debut album released in 1983 called Loose ‘N’ Lethal is said to be one of the finest in British metal during their era.
Acid
Formed in 1980, Acid was able two released highly-rated albums three years later, called Acid and Maniac. Acid influences were Motörhead and Venom which had helped them to develop as a fierce metal.

Picture was the reason Holland became a country full of metalheads. Formed in 1979, their first two albums Picture 1 (1980) and Heavy Metal Ears (1981) was outstanding, heavy and, of course, intense. The band call it quits by the end of the ’80s but reformed in 2007, but weren’t able to achieve such success.
