The Rallying Cry
Dee Snider returned to Broadway Theatre to join “Rocktopia” (a show that mixes classical music and classic rock) and to perform the classic hit “We’re Not Gonna Take It.” He then dedicated it to the Oklahoma teachers who were on a 9-day strike because of pay and school funding problems.
Some music teachers played the Twisted Sister tune in a marching band style which is why Dee Snider said this when he walked out on stage:
“This one’s for all the teachers out there tonight.”
CBS News cited the song as “rapidly becoming the unofficial anthem of the growing teachers’ movement” and Dee Snider already took to social media to express his support.
While I totally support underpaid teacher’s cause, it is kind of weird that a song that was on the “Filthy 15” is now every oppressed groups battlecry. #GODBLESSAMERICA! https://t.co/G7PBHpgsIZ
