Metallica’s James Hetfield and Sammy Hagar (ex Van Halen) teamed up for their annual show “Acoustic-4-A-Cure,” a concert to benefit the Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, with John Mayer, & Tommy Lee to perform a cover of “Piece of my Heart” by Janis Joplin.
The show took place on May 15 2016 at the Fillmore Theater in the city of San Francisco. Rock icons who participated that year were Melissa Etheridge, Sammy Hagar, James Hetfield, Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), John Mayer, Pat Monahan, and Joe Satriani. The musicians participated in acoustic sets with special collaborations for that day.
The Metallica frontman and popular former Van Halen vocalist Sammy Haggar held the third benefit acoustic concert to raise funds for the childhood cancer program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco, California.
