2019 Can Come Soon Enough!!!
Next year will be the 50th anniversary of the iconic Woodstock Festival – it’s been half a century and boy, time does fly! So of course it’s just fitting that it will be reincarnated as a way to celebrate this historic moment in rock ‘n roll and well, music in general.
If in 1969, tickets only cost $6.50 for one day and $18 for all three days, the 3-day event in 2019 would go for $29.50 – $79.50! It will run from August 16 to 18. Interestingly, it will be held at the original venue – the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.
“2019 will mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Woodstock Music and Art Fair, commonly known as the Woodstock festival. At Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the historic site of the 1969 festival, we will make certain the golden anniversary is commemorated throughout the entire year of 2019 with activities, festivities, special exhibits, and more…” – Bethel Woods Center for the Arts

The festival will feature popular music artists of various genres and more than concerts, there will also be TED-style presentations, film screenings and a special exhibit. According to Poughkeepsie Journal, the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts received $689,063 from New York State’s Regional Economic Development Council. It is expected to increase tourism and economic growth.
However, it still remains unconfirmed whether Michael Lang (who planned other Woodstock Festivals) will organize the event.
“Woodstock is a sort of state of mind now, rather than just an event. Today, it has terrific meaning, not only to the young and old, but to the world.” – Darlene Fedun, CEO of the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts
We can’t wait to have the final details including the roster of musicians who will perform at the event. It will never be as epic as the 1969 festival but it’s a great way to pay tribute to all the artists who made Woodstock as magical as it was.
